Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco

Please use this online system to register for volunteer opportunities and other events.

Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco invites volunteers to build homes with limited-income families in Marin, San Francisco and San Mateo counties. Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome to join us.

Getting Started:

Sign up for a volunteer event from the list of available opportunities. If the event says "full" or "reserved," we have met our volunteer needs and are no longer registering additional volunteers. We post opportunities about three weeks in advance, and additional opportunities are posted each week.

Attend your volunteer event.  Please refer to the email that you received upon registering to learn where to go, what to bring, etc.

Become a "Regular" and make an ongoing commitment to continue volunteering with us. As you become more skilled, you may choose to lead crews of other volunteers. Let the construction manager know!

Cancel your volunteer event if you will not be able to attend. That will allow another volunteer to fill your place, and our crew leaders will be able to plan for the correct number of volunteers. If you are experiencing difficulty cancelling your build day, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Bethany, at LVC1@habitatgsf.org .

Age Restriction: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer on the construction site. Volunteers younger than 18 must have their parent sign a minor waiver form, which is available on our website.

Choose Where to Build

In Menlo Park, San Mateo, Neighborhood Revitalization Program

Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco is embarking on a program designed to stabilize and revitalize neighborhoods struck by the foreclosure crisis. Habitat's Neighborhood Revitalization Program rehabilitates foreclosed homes, making them ready for new home ownership.

In Novato, Marin, Neighborhood Revitalization Program

Habitat Greater San Francisco's first ever build in Marin County.  The success of Habitat's Neighborhood Revitalization Program extends to Marin.

New Volunteer Orientation

Volunteer orientations are not required. They are, however, highly informative and may give you a leg up on the construction site. To view a volunteer orientation, please follow this link:  http://www.habitatgsf.org/volunteer/volunteer_orientation.html (the orientation is now entirely digital!).

Individual Questions

If you have any questions about volunteering as an individual please contact Bethany Hellerich at 650.568.7345 or LVC1@habitatgsf.org.

Waitlist If only the waitlist is available, please put yourself on it. Groups often lower their number or individuals cancel. When this happens the individuals on the waitlist get moved up into an open space.
